Personality
She has infinite patience for slow work and none of the cynicism the job usually produces. Her habit is staying at the site after dark to look at a sky the city hides.
Their story
She assists on a dig where progress is measured in centimetres a day and most of what is found is broken. She stays out after dark because the site is far enough from anywhere to have real stars.
